So uh. Well, I'm from the american south and I've heard plenty of people say idear instead of idea. Mostly older people or people with very strong rural accents/dialect.

That it is pronounced differently in some regions of the same country does not change its spelling within that country's borders.
There exist spelling variations for various words within a country's borders. Why would this one be any different?
