my guess is that many programmers like git because of the free/libre folk. i personally like git because it has an easy to understand gui interface that many people understand if you are not tech savy. my fav gui interface is github desktop that i use to talk to my github account and make commits to my personal website. i wish the other git repository hosting sites like gitlab and codeberg had an easy to use gui. maybe somebody will make one |
