It can get messy, especially because the very thing the city can offer (real estate) ends up being a political pawn. With no provision in the city’s charter to protect it, anything the city provides is going to be quick to the chopping block. The better way for a city to help is let the local library system manage the relationship or itself be the steward of the space. |
