Show HN: I struggle to focus working from home so I built a solution
31 points by smileyao 972 days ago
Hey HN friends,

I keep getting distracted working from home and always end up watching youtube, browsing blogs like HN or just mindlessly scrolling then I feel like crap because I didn’t do enough.

I went through dozens of productivity tools but they’re quite overwhelming to use and none of them actually helped me focus.

So I built http://complish.ai, a web-based sidebar that helps me focus on one task at a time.

I launched it last month and have over 3,000 users now and I’ll be keeping it free.

Would love for you all to try and give some feedback!

I'm curious how long is it going to take before employers get the clue and start charging those who come to the office for providing them a workplace so they don't have to manage with the same amount of work at home where they may even lack a separate room and be constantly bugged by whoever they live with (which is especially relevant in Europe where whole families use to live in single bedroom+livingroom apartments rather than dedicated houses).

In a way, that already sailed long ago. There exist rental office spaces. You get a desk, phone, internet hookup. Shared facilities like washrooms, kitchenettes, and meeting rooms. The desk might be in a shared room used by one or more other people who are unrelated. Mostly these rental offices are used by self-employed consultants, entrepreneurs or small business owners.

Yes, that's how much it is false that working from home is better for everyone. Some self-employed people pay for an office so they can get away from working at home!

Those places are good if you need a place to meet with clients.

It looks super cool, but it seems problematic that it is free. If I am not paying, am I the product? What is the model here that is sustainable?
It seems like you've dropped the ADHD angle. Why? Was it not resonating with potential customers?

P.S. you still have it mentioned in your FAQ

The power users who are using us daily aren't diagnosed with ADHD but have symptoms of ADHD. We are trying a more broad approach to see if there is a stronger uptake vs ADHD communication.
Why do you need a google or apple account to download it?
Wow nice work. But why the http link ?
