Knowing this was possible along with the privacy concerns is the main reason I told friends and family not to buy a baby monitor for us. Instead I used Polycom VOIP phones and Asterisk PBX install to act like intercoms throughout the house using the DIDs 10, 20, 30, etc. Then I made extensions 11, 22, 33, etc to add a SIP-header to the call so that the receiving handset auto answers. Works really well, my wife and I use it every day, and our now 6 year old has started to too. Ran Asterisk at work so it made sense to put it to use at home, albeit without any external connectivity. |
