I find time bound assessments to be counterproductive, way harder to aim for high quality

I'm not suggesting that the time should be fixed, but that the task solved should be precisely defined through satisfying a set of provided tests.

That way, every candidate for that job is solving the exact same problem, and there's no pressure to do more than required.
