I think it's safe to assume that Mr. Zhong is of an Asian background. My guess is that he is, unfortunately, lacking in "interpersonal skills".

I suspect it's not supposed to be taken at face value. It's a reference to Harvard admissions process, where asians seem to get suspiciously low "personality scores" compared to white applicants.
