I think the way the Celestial Reference Frame Department does things might be old-fashioned.

With new tech like blockchain for decentralized coordination, or machine learning algorithms that can process astronomical data more accurately and quickly, there might be better and easier ways to do celestial referencing. It might be time for a change to keep up with these new advancements.

Can you elaborate on the applicability of the blockchain to CRFD's mission? They don't seem to be in the business of decentralized coordination.

Decentralisation would be better achieved with CRDTs, because that already sounds like CRFD.
> machine learning algorithms

Machine learning algorithms are good for cheaper replacement of cheap customer service agents, but they are not trustable.

For important things (and having accurate and precise time is an important thing) you need to know in advance that the task will be completed correctly; you actually need to know why it will be completed correctly.

Anything based exclusively on old data, with no formal model, simply cannot give you any guarantee.

What do blockchains help for coordination (among three players btw, as other posts point out, why even decentralized)?

What is wrong with the current proven algorithms/approach doing the celestial referencing (which is not rocket science btw)? How would machine learning help and overcome the necessary accuracy and certainty needed here?

To summarize: OMFG!!!11 Or you just buzzwording bot?

What exactly do you think they do? I'm not sure how you think blockchain helps anything, nor what you think you're comparing machine learning with.
You really should put in a sarcasm marker for content like this, there's no way to tell if you're serious.
Yeah, otherwise we can't know whether to laugh with or laugh at
God doesn't roll blockchain...
Are we sure?

Think that may be why "time" is such an intransigent thing to work with.

Not sure, I think hash functions could be deeply connected with the Inner Workings. Maybe time is a merkle tree...just kidding, but who knows?

It's all a big mystery. He could roll blockchain. But who knows? I just think there'd be a more elegant concept :) haha

This was a sarcasm btw
Put a quarter in your ass, because you Poe'd yourself: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poe%27s_law
