As a quest 2 owner I've gotta say I've been kind of surprised how little I want to do anything in VR, I kind of thought that having an immersive VR space would be groundbreaking in many ways and now I'm left wondering if it's a lack of innovation in the space (the illusive 'killer app') or if it's just small barriers to using it that keep me from reaching for it?

My smartphone and laptop are just, more convenient for almost everything?

As an owner of an HTC Vive and a Quest 2, I find the terrible specs of the Quest to be the biggest reason why it collects dust. The resolution is horrible, the cameras are horrible, and the apps it can run are crap.

Exploring raytraced worlds on my 3090Ti in a high resolution Vive or Valve Index delivers a level of immersive experience that’s impossible to achieve on Quests hardware.

The Quest 3 is still a bit of a potato but one day, quality and convenience will converge into a sweet spot that clicks for more people in a way that only enthusiasts get to experience nowadays. A portable Index would likely have the impact people tend to expect when they imagine futuristic VR.
