Recent research suggests that schizophrenia may also be immune-mediated or at least immune-system involved. See: https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fpsyt.2022.8805... I was at a psychiatric conference once where the presenter highlighted that the last condition that psychiatry actually "cured" was neurosyphilis, an infection-triggered version of schizophrenia, back in the 1940's. |
