Like, why? How much maintenance could it possibly be for them, versus some segment of their users with limited/expensive connectivity who possibly depend on Gmail daily losing maybe the only usable means they have of accessing it. Lame. |

Presumably the plain HTML version requires considerably different back end services. I imagine that is the driver here.
