I started with text file, which is often the best way for me for any management thing as JIRA/tools get too complex and I often miss things in UI Text file was also great as it was straight in my IDE and I could move it to done at the bottom of the page. Now I migrated to Asana/kanban, becouse text file got to big, but only after half of year of development.
