Imagine a device that could do contactless "tap and pay" transactions, be weather resistant, virtually indestructible, fit inside a small pocket and not require a battery..

In all seriousness if the credit/debit card was introduced after smartphone wallets, we would all be moving in that direction

You only need one phone. You can replace a phone and download all your cards back. A phone has biometric security. A phone is also a camera, an internet communicator, a music player, a movie player, a navigation device.

No, it's not just because it's new.

I'm not doing it because of the privacy implications but I do see the benefits.

I lose my cards like you wouldn’t believe. I break my phones…but less often than I lose my cards. All cards on phone would be a dream for me. Especially if I could just have my cards tucked away somewhere as a backup.
