But, as costs drop the advantage of a tracking system needs to be balanced vs just adding more cells. Using solar cells in the far north is generally a bad idea, but there are applications where it's useful. EX: Really remote stations that people vary rarely visit.

But even that is not the most cost effective, and it is somewhat maintenance intensive compared to a static array.
