I use it instead of Outlook as well. It comes up immediately and is supremely snappy.

Unfortunately they are replacing it in 2024 with Outlook Lite, which takes solid 2-4 seconds to come up.

Mail app has its UI deteriorated during the years, but it is still he best email client around. Actually there is no real competition in the field anymore.
