Yes. It's an analysis of the differences in results generated by different teams of academics researching the same data. That required lots of researchers, who all deserve credit for their contributions.
What should they have done with that paper? Maybe used the front and back right?
People complain about the weirdest thi... the first five pages of the paper contain nothing but the list of authors and their affiliations?!?
From the abstract:

> We claim that EGP variation across researchers adds uncertainty: non-standard errors. To study them, we let 164 teams test six hypotheses on the same sample.

So those are the subjects, not co-authors.
