A domain-specific compression algorithm will often outperform a general purpose compression algorithm, and sometimes a combination of both is even better. Besides, downloading a zip file is still faster than downloading the uncompressed file, so either everybody's doing HTTP compression wrong or it's not so hot to start with. |
