Well, as an employee of Salesforce, I witnessed operating margin goals of activist investors drive a layoff this year. (And Salesforce just met those goals last week.) Part of me wonders if that's just broad inflationary concerns and uncertainty about the world economy, pushing for profits over everything else. Really seems short-sighted, but, so did the "hire everything that breathes" era in the 2010s, too. |
