For the same reason that we aren't falling into the sun, or the moon isn't falling into earth. Orbits are a thing. (The orbits in a galaxy are more complicated than around the sun, but the same principles apply. And galaxies have been pretty stable.) Similarly, if you were to suddenly replace our own sun with a black hole of the same mass, none of the solar system's orbits would change. Earth would still take one year to peacefully complete its circle around the black hole sun. > "Accepted theory" can kiss my ass for all its worth.
