If it was true there would immediately be competition. By “immediately” in this space I mean 2-3 years.
No way anyone could recreate CUDA + firmware + all the other bits necessary in 2-3 years, to the same level of performance, even if given tens of billions in R&D budget.

There are some things that money just can't buy and apparently working drivers are one of them.
