Astera Institute (https://astera.org/) wants to help solve technical bottlenecks that limit innovation in scientific publishing. Their first Science Entrepreneur-in-Residence program (https://astera.org/upgrading-scientific-dialogue/) is a great opportunity for people who want to build better tools for information sharing in the life sciences.

The Science EIR will spend the first year in residence at Astera with up to $500K in available budget. An investment of $2M is on the table for people who demonstrate progress in the first year.

Over the last several decades, the internet has transformed information exchange. #openscience communities started a movement to evolve scientific practice for these internet times. They insist on better scientific publishing. We can continue the momentum by experimenting with new tools and infrastructure to enable transparant continuous exchange of scientific ideas.

Astera is looking for entrepreneurs, founders/ex-founders and/or product people with the ability to execute and iterate quickly. Innovative products for better information exchange will come from new people with first-class tech skills. If you can visualize faster, easier paths to share and discuss scientific results, and then you can make it happen, check out this unique opportunity to innovate for better science (https://astera.org/upgrading-scientific-dialogue/).

The applications are open now. If you have any questions or thoughts, feel free to email Michele Weber, Director of Science at Astera (michele@astera.org), or Prachee Avasthi (prachee@astera.org).
