They then proceeded (if I recall this correctly) to shut them down, and centralise news production with a small amount of local news injection. Same thing happened in Canada with Post Media. Slaughtered local reporting. Endless go-arounds with the Competition Bureau. Now two-thirds owned by the right-wing hedge fund Chatham Asset Management. Same guys who owned the National Enquirer, famous for Batboy and hush-money suppression of scandalous Trump stories. |
