I’m in a different city in California now, working for the same company I used to in the Bay Area. The office is empty at 6 pm here. In the Bay Area most people stayed till at least 7 pm, some till 9 pm regularly. While I agree that this tendency to overwork and expecting others to do the same is a part of the American work culture, in the Bay Area it seems to be cranked up to 11. |
