Hello Hacker News community, I have been working in the IT industry within the finance domain for over 15 years, but I've reached a point where I feel disillusioned with the desk job and office politics. I am keen to pursue a more meaningful career, and the aquaculture industry has captured my interest. My plan is to make a transition from the IT industry to aquaculture within the next 2-5 years. During this time, I want to equip myself with a comprehensive understanding of the aquaculture industry, its intricacies, and best practices. My goal is to gain enough knowledge and expertise so that when I eventually leave the IT sector in about 2 years, I can confidently start a venture in aquaculture, earn a livelihood, and build a successful business thereafter. I would greatly appreciate any advice and guidance from the Hacker News community on how to best prepare for this career transition. What resources should I explore to build a strong foundation in aquaculture? Are there any specific online courses, books, or training programs you would recommend? Additionally, I'm curious to know about potential challenges that I might face in this journey and how to overcome them. I'm sure many people of HN community must have made their transitions to other fields in their mid-life. Please provide your invaluable insights. Thanks |
