One nit- "Facing many business challenges, large technology companies have laid off more than 386,000 workers nationwide since early 2022, according to layoffs.fyi," -> this nationwide clause is incorrect. Layoffs.fyi aggregates layoff data from tech companies in general, which includes layoffs happening in the US and internationally. Most of these press releases from companies conducting layoffs aggregated, and the exact US count cannot be determined (example 10,000 laid off from Meta worldwide https://about.fb.com/news/2023/03/mark-zuckerberg-meta-year-... ) The closest thing you can get to US-only layoff count is to look at WARN data (government mandated data). (I run https://www.warntracker.com/, a aggregator website for this government layoff dataset) |
