If you are making $300k/yr then I can say you are providing some real value to the company otherwise it wouldn't pay that obscene amount of money to an employee. I will take cjbprime's suggestions. 1. Do you have a specific plan carved out what to do once you leave your job? If not then take some time to plan while in the job and see if you can start something in your niche expertise. Find out that if you have sufficient networking in place to hire few good people from your industry. 2. Have you found any pain point to solve? And how and where to attack? If not, then you can spend next 6 months to do and even if your 8 hr job is soul sucking you still have 16 hrs of your life to make something challenging and fun.

I'm not that experienced but that's what I would do.
