a) who was advised that firing the FBI director would have a political cost to him but still decided to go ahead with it

b) and essentially bragged about doing it

c) was suddenly under pressure after the firing and decided to appoint someone he didn't like/want?

And Trumps choice was lastly confirmed by a Republican controlled senate. No where in the process did Dems have any influence.
