To be fair, I graduated from a small college in 2001 and I still had a course on JCL. Local industry used it and my program was basically a factory for graduating programmers who could help fix Y2K issues.

I have a friend who has worked for a contractor for the military who was doing JCL at least as late as 2015.

I think another friend is still doing mainframe type stuff today.
