I dunno if that what you meant, but it was pretty much designed so that the people that want to complicate everything go there complicating it, while the people that want to write something useful can just take complicators' work, use it, and raise their shoulders at every objection repeating "you are the one that designed it this way". The original TeX doesn't work this way. That's why people don't collaborate directly in it. |

The keyword here is "easily". Of course I could learn the language and go wild. But, hey, I had a thesis to write so I had to make choices: PhD or fancy headers.
