A little tangential, but I'd highly recommend Siddhartha Mukherjee's The Emperor of All Maladies. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Emperor_of_All_Maladies It really helped me appreciate how we went from treating people with anything that'd kill their cells to highly specific drugs that target genetic pathways. |
