Ask HN: Do you preffer to purchase a landing page or develop it by yourself?

As we all may agree, it's best to focus on the core functionality of our product first and then do less important things. When I was developing one of my products, it had so many technical features that I had to focus on. But I knew that if I was going to launch, I needed a good landing page that could showcase the features, grab attention, and convert leads. However, I had to trade my time instead of developing those core features for something less important like the landing page.

Now I'm thinking, why not just purchase a template from platforms like ThemeForest? How do you handle this problem? If you are a developer, would you rather write your website template yourself or would you prefer to buy something beautiful or elegant and just use it?

I like writing my own HTML/CSS from scratch because I am "picky" and don't like when, for example, a ThemeForest theme comes with jQuery and 10 other JS libraries only for a button to animate. Also, sometimes customizing a theme has a bit of a learning curve, so I don't save too much time compared to writing my own.

That being said, the best solution would be to:

1. Don't care, just use any theme that's good enough.

2. Always use the same theme, so you get familiar with it then you can easily customize it.
