Agree. It is difficult to resolve trade mark law and use in open source communities. This strikes me as a fair balance. If the Perl community adopted a different logo it would still need an owner to invest in the trade mark and licence / enforce it, or it would likely be abused. Registration and enforcement do not come particularly cheap, especially on a global scale.
