Hmm, Java is more open than ever, and the development of the JVM is more vibrant than ever. For over 99% of people, OpenJDK (or any other similar distribution) is all they will ever need. As a Java developer, I am certainly much happier now than I was 15 years ago when Sun couldn't invest more in Java development. Disclaimer: I work for Oracle, but not on Java/JVM. |
