As someone who works in tech in the UK, this is very scary to me.

The government must back down and ideally apologise.

This will have subtle effects on the sector irregardless of what they do now.

This is a lame-duck executive. Ministers will pander to their extremist wings, because those wings are their only hope to save their careers once they are booted out next year. So I would not hold my breath on that apology.

I think the biggest factor is the Tory's are setting up opposition for 2025 rather than doing anything for today.
