I don't know that I would qualify for an account on infosec.exchange. I'm certainly no security expert.

If the hachyderm incident has taught me anything, I refuse to attach myself to any system where I have no method of recourse if someone files a false complaint against me, where I cannot be told anything about the complaint or face my accusers, and where my continued existence is entirely at the whim of the admin.

If I ever do anything further with the Fediverse, I think it's going to be exclusively on my own system. That way, if I say or do something to get de-federated, at least I've got some hope of a proper hearing.

That is why I selfhost. Digital ocean has an appliance you can spin up and play with in about 10 minutes.
