sudo doesn't have 174 CVEs. People always link to a simple mitre keyword search, and many just mention sudo in passing; you don't have to look far: the two first items on that list are not about sudo at all. The last time I looked at this[1] I found the most serious problems were logic issues, and not memory issues (although there are some of those a well).
