I've always liked the presentation of Cooking For Engineers. Plenty of instruction, but the table at the end that visually combines the ingredients and techniques is a nice idea for quickly glancing at while cooking.
That's how I originally learned how to cook! I worked through many of those recipes until I was comfortable enough that now I mostly wing it. Wow it's been years since I opened this site up, what a callback!
