> I think the biggest thing is that systems programming still requires a language that gets out of the way so you can focus on very technical problem domains where what the hardware is actually doing really matters. Just the fact that Rust doesn’t do implicit integer conversions is by itself a huge win over C which has promotion rules that can easily trip you up when you are trying to exactly specify bits. |
