There are mainstream use cases, particularly for cloud providers who want lightweight runtimes with hypervisor managed isolation. The only "example" I can think of off hand is Firecracker, but I'm not 100% confident that Firecracker is technically a unikernels. My guess is that there's a number of unikernel implementations behind closed doors that see heavy use |
