Race-to-the-bottom capitalism forces farmers to fight on price, since they can only sell in bulk to big enterprises, squeazing out their profits.

Farming associations actually help here, since they can negociate like a union, but not sure how much the US would approve of this "communism".

Trust are good and even needed for the producers. Just look at OPEC... It would be lot worse for them if they did not manage supply. Same goes for farmers if they can't control the sell price.
