That's the problem with these dumb conspiracy theories: if the secret cabals that supposedly engineered things behind the scenes were competent, they'd be doing smarter things than we're seeing. And if they existed and were incompetent, they wouldn't be able to keep their existence secret for so long.

I have a litmus test for conspiracy theories that proved reliable over time:

Does whatever the illuminati/deep state/lizard people are up to preserve the status quo?

If not, it's likely bullshit. If they have enough power to keep everything a secret, they would rather keep things the way they are.

Of course things can be bullshit even if they pass this test.

And here's the kicker: a huge part of society likes the status quo. Think whatever cartoon villain stuff oil companies did over the past decades. Most people don't care.
