I think there is a real difference in the ratio between consumers and producers of content on the two sites. The vast majority (99.9%) of YouTube users contribute no content to it. The proportion of users who comment/submit on Reddit is much higher. As an analogy, a third-party app for uploading YouTube videos efficiently, without ads, seems like a much more reasonable proposition, because that app is tailored towards content producers. |
