I’m not and haven’t been looking for work so take this with a grain of salt but from what I’ve seen there are openings but there’s a lot of competition for them. On top of that at $CURRENT_EMPLOYER, a San Francisco based tech company, we have been hiring but almost entirely exclusively from outside of the US. It’s simply too expensive to hire US based engineers when Canadians are much cheaper but just as effective and in the same time zones.

EDIT: I imagine US engineering demand will ramp back up once competition for Canadian engineers gets too fierce or with companies that absolutely demand in-office workers

Huh. How's that fit with the general push against remote work I've been hearing about?
