I accepted the Google spyware and put ChromeOS Flex (https://chromeenterprise.google/os/chromeosflex/) on my ancient MacBook Air; at least it gets security patches now, and I can use it for basic tasks (including running a Linux VM on it and Linux apps (like emacs) that appear as native apps). Its hardware support seems great - trackpad, wifi, etc all worked on install. It's not a bad way to extend the life of some pretty nice hardware |
