I think the "need" comes from the content owners, who refuse to license their material to services that don't implement a form of DRM that they approve of. It would of course be much easier if the content owners some day understood that DRM solves absolutely nothing, only makes the UX worse, and the content is still being copied freely out there, despite all the protection. |

Poppycock.
If I were unwilling to come to work unless I was to get €1,000,000 per day and the system wasn't set up to do that, then I would have to stay at home all day. I would have no right to insist that just because I find the current system unsuitable that it should be changed.
