> society around us partly disintegrates and additional effects start stacking up: substance abuse, violent crime, healthcare costs etc. Sure, if the alternative is “do nothing.” But if you committed the mentally ill who are endangering themselves and others to mental institutions (not jail) then 90% of these problems go away. |
