All software is technical debt. It has to be maintained, deployed, debugged. Debt is not inherently bad (mortgage, operating lines of credit, financing a purchase because we’re gaining more with our investments than the debt costs). We do it (debt) because it’s better than the alternative. In the case of software we earn more from having the software than the maintenance liability. If you’re concerned about debt make sure your debt is serviceable, and at a reasonable rate, and gains you more than it costs you. |
