My ironic situation right now is that I AM management in my company, and I'm spending a lot of time shifting the culture of our Engineers away from "just pumping out code" to shipping and supporting products. I'm literally being asked questions about why we need logging when we can just use a debugger, and I'm fighting the "that'll only take 1/2 day" (which it never does!) estimates from the team.

It feels like bizarro world to me. I had a pretty long IC career before moving into management, and felt like I was fighting the exact same battles against management,
