One of the reasons I have a lot of credit cards and bank accounts is to work around this sort of problem. It happens a lot. Between the bank, the vendor and the (possibly many layers of) payment processors inevitably something goes wrong in the plumbing.

Instead of wasting my time with CS bots I just try another card.

(The other reason to have multiples of everything is to take advantage of the slightly different features they have.)
