Current culture of squeezing every bit of productivity out of programmers is absolute cancer. In many companies practices like scrum actively discourage spending more time on research / refactoring. "Of course you can spend some time on this task! Also you have the other five to complete. And the sprint ends in two weeks". Imagine Einstein was told "oh, you have such a nice idea about relativity, let's time frame it to 2 days, and then get back to reviewing patents" |
